Interested in Joining One of Our Studies?

We are interested in working with adults (ages 50+) to explore a variety of areas including cognition, mobility, and aging. How do we do this?

  • Paper and pencil tasks of thinking and memory

  • Walking assessment

  • Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRs)

  • 1 hour MRI (no injection contrast)

Our research studies are not designed to provide direct benefits to participants. We do provide transportation to and from out study center and you will be payed for each study visit.

Out Studies

Asthma Aging

Includes

  • Spirometry

  • Measurement device for asthma medication

HIV Aging

Includes

  • Blood draws

  • Breathalyzer, drug urine screen

Commonly Asked Questions

What if I don't have one of the conditions being studied?

That is ok! We are looking for adults without the conditions listed to participate.

How will I be compensated?

We use Clincards, which are reloadable, pre-paid debit cards. Participants are compensated after each study visit. We also provide transportation to and from our lab at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.

What is fNIRs?

fNIR's is a non-invasive way to measure brain activity. It uses light to detect changes in blood oxygen levels. One part of our study requires participants to wear a cap on their head with a device that uses fNIRS while walking. A limitation of the device is that it doesn’t accommodate all hairstyles.

MRI FAQ's

  • The MRI is 1 hour long

  • You will be laying down in an enclosed machine

  • No contrast (there will be NO injection of IV administration of contrast dye)

  • Trained MRI Montefiore/Einstein technicians administer all MRI procedures

  • Copy of MRI available upon request (no clinical results provided)

When do visits take place?

We are open Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00

Visits Occur either from 10:00-1:00 or 1:00-4:00 based on your preferance

How do I know if I am eligible?
  • You are 50 years of age and older

  • You are conversing, reading, and writing in English
